In certain situations, you may wish to update your live application with a completely different AppsGeyser app. This guide will help you perform this update.
Please note that the reason this process isn't straightforward is due to the unique package name that your live app has on Google Play. The package name is everything that follows ".com" in your Google Play link. Your publication can only be updated with an app that carries the same package name.
To carry out this update, you need to adjust the package name of the new app (the one you intend to use for updating the live app) to match that of the existing live app. Here's how you can do it:
-
Log into your AppsGeyser Dashboard.
-
Choose the app that's currently live.
-
Go to the Edit section of the dashboard and locate the Advanced tab.
-
Copy the package name of the live app to the clipboard.
-
Add a few random symbols to the package name. This need to be done because package names are unique within AppsGeyser, and two apps cannot share the same package name. Save these changes by clicking 'Submit'.
-
Now, select the new app with which you want to update the publication.
-
Again, navigate to the Edit section of the dashboard, and go to the Advanced tab.
-
Paste the package name (from step 5) of the previous app from the clipboard. Save these changes.
-
Go to the Download section of the Dashboard and click on 'rebuild and download new .aab'.
-
Once the new AAB file is downloaded, go to your app on the Google Play Developer Console. Update the app using the newly downloaded AAB. For guidance on this process, refer to our update guide: Updating your app on Google Play: Step-by-step guide.
