The most satisfying moment for an app maker comes when an app is successfully uploaded into Google Play, and downloads begin. However, the process can quickly be ruined if you have not planned your Android app in conjunction with Google Play requirements, Today we are going to take a look at the top four reasons Android apps are rejected from GooglePlay.
Copyright infringement – The main culprit for app rejection is due to copyright infringements. It is never acceptable to take content from another person or group and use this as your own. It is also not acceptable to use another brand’s name or profile within the app.
Poor app description or missing information – An Android app description should be written in a clear and concise manner. Clearly explain what your app is about so the app user knows what they are downloading. An app description that misleads will lead to poor downloads or worse still, will lead to many uninstalls. An app that is uninstalled frequently could face rejection from GooglePlay for misguiding the consumer.
Poor app ratings – Your app needs to be up to standard and tested before it is uploaded to Google Play. Make sure the links open, the layout is mobile friendly and the images are clear. Related to the point above, if your app does not perform the tasks set out in the app description, this too can lead to poor ratings. Google Play does not want poor quality apps in their store; therefore you may find your app will be rejected.
App ratings – It is vital that when you upload your app to Google Play you correctly add the right ratings to the app. What you do not want is an app that has content suitable to an adult audience being rated as child friendly. There should be no reference to drugs, alcohol, nudity or anything that may cause offence to a child.
Hate speech or violence – An app that appears to contain any form of hate speech or violence that is deemed to pose a threat to another person or group will be rejected from Google Play. Hate speech can refer to groups of different religioms, sexual orientation, disabilities.
Gambling and porn – Gambling and porn are not accepted in any form in GooglePlay. This is because these forms of apps can end up in the hands of children. Gambling is also addictive and can cause on-going problems and therefore is not an acceptable form of content for an Android app.
