With now well over half a million apps created from the AppsGeyser Android app platform it has become apparent that there is a no distinctive group of people that are creating apps, creating an Android app has become a diverse activity for a variety of people. Today we are going to look at what type of people are making Android apps and why they have decided to create an Android app and what style of app is most suitable for each app creation style.
Teenagers and youth
This age group is the age group that have grown up already hands on with mobile phones as part of their everyday lives. Most teenage kid in the developed world has had their hands on a smart phone or mobile device such as a tablet, therefore it is most common for this age group to want to play around and develop apps mainly for fun to share with their friends.
The most common form of app that is created by people from this age range is the social URL link to app, usually a facebook link so friends have access to their social dialogue through a click of a button without having to log into their own social apps. Another very popular form of app for this age group is the photo app, we have found that many create apps based on a group of photos from a particular event that they then turn into a wallpaper app to allow themselves and their friends to then save the images from their fun night out, or their recent holiday trip on their mobile device as wallpaper images. The creation of an Android app is just something done for fun, these apps are less likely to be uploaded to GooglePlay or any other Android app market, the app link is shared by the friends through the QR barcode and downloaded directly to their mobile devices for free.
Small businesses are slowly realising that the way to market their business most effectively in the modern world is to have a social and mobile presence. This group of people are turning to app creation to help further their current businesses and are looking to do this on a shoe string budget, meaning they do not have the budgets to employ app developers to create an Android app for them.
When analysing the style of apps created with this Android creation group we have found that the first most common app template style is the URL website link that allows the app makers to create an app from their existing website. Many of this group make the common mistake of NOT having optimized their website for mobile before creating their app and this is something that we are working with this group on. Not optimizing the websites prior to app creation could mean that vital parts of the website are not clearly showing on the app and some images could be lost when viewed as a mobile app. The AppsGeyser team are always happy to assist in advising how to best optimize a website for mobile.
Another popular form of app for a small business is one created with the HTML editor, this app style allows the business owner to create a one page app or several pages if tabs are used, that will only show information that is relelvant to the app. What is also useful with this style of app template, is that the business app is always available even when there is no internet connection, giving access to their latest deals at all times. It is important that the app is regularally updated to keep it relevant and the update is then uploaded to GooglePlay by updating the APK in the developers account.
The 30 somethings
This is the technical group that are looking to make some money from app making. Our 30 somethings are generally the group that create apps for prefessional reasons, they want to make money from app making and learn technical tricks through creating apps with AppsGeyser. Most of this group will start with creating simple apps, like the URL to app conversion, then the progress to making advanced editing techniques. This is the main group that will create app soley through zip archives and their own coding, making mistakes and learning from these mistakes as they build their app empires.
The 30 somethings, as I like to call them, are also the main group that look to monetize their apps to the apps full advantage, this means not just ensure that they have signed up to Admob for banner ad revenue for when their apps hit the requirments, but they will also build networks to create private advertisements, internal sales, pay-to call links and so forth.
Please remember, today I have brought to you a very stereotypical view of the main groups of app makers that we have seen using our app making tools, there are of course many people that create apps for their own personal reasons and do not fall into the groups above. What ever your reason is for creating an app with AppsGeyser, remember that we are here to help you with your app making.
