Yesterday we briefly touched on the three main ways in which you can ensure that your app is a long term success and not a one minute wonder. Today I want to look in more detail at how you can ensure that you get the right audience for your app, the right people who will enjoy your app, want to download your app and will be loyal to your app.
Increase your audience for your Free Android App
Getting the right audience
There are a number of ways to ensure that the audience you are getting for your app are the right type of people, afterall, you don’t want to be getting lots of people downloading your app for it to only be ditched after one use because the content isn’t what they want.
App Description: When people come to your download page they will firstly have a brief look at your app description to see if the app is what they are looking for. Your app description should be factual and truthful to the content of the app giving your potential audience member the facts to decide if this is the app that will meet their needs. It is better to gain one loyal app user than to have ten downloads and ten deletes of your app. Remember, deletion of your app is a bad point against you in GooglePlay.
Screen Prints: Continuing on from the app description is the quality and usefulness of your screenprints. We have seen people use images that they have included within their app as a screen print – this does not show the app user anything about how the app looks inside. You need to make sure your screen print clearly shows what the app looks like once the user is inside, the layout of the app and its features in progress.
Marketing: When you create your marketing plan make it specific to the type of people that you want going to your app download page, you should be advertising in industry related media outlets, such as magazines or at events. If you are sending out an advertisement in a local newspaper for your topic specific app you will likely to attract only a small amount of people that are interested in your topic, if you advertise your app at an industry event, you are more likely to attract a larger audience as you already know that they have an interest in the topic and you are then selling them something that is related to their needs and wants.
Social networking: This is a continuation of your marketing but on a more personal level. Social media marketing lets you get personal with your audience and potential audience, but again it is up to you to market to the correct group. You should be joining in conversations in industry related Facebook pages and on twitter, referring these members to your industry related blog and through to your app.
Remember: It is not the amount of downloads that is important, it is the usage ratio that makes you money and makes your app a success. Having multiple deletions from GooglePlay tags your app as non-relevant and you will find your app loses its place in organic searches. Take your time to get your app right and get the right audience and you will find your free Android app will become an instant success.
