What is new?
GooglePlay services are updating along with technology, user and developer needs. GooglePlay Services release began on January 10th and will continue to be rolled out in the weeks ahead. There are some great new technological advances taking place in the latest update that will make many Android app makers excited.
1: Improved battery life for location services – Location reporting has to now eaten away at the battery life of the Android mobile device when in use. The latest update has made some changes to the way in which location services work and these changes will mean that less battery life will be drained when using this feature.
2: Multi-player support – The multi play support has been improved as the demand for multi-player online games continues to increase. The latest update will see support for up to 8 players.
3: Google Drive – Developers will soon be able to preview Google Drive API for Android which will allow them to read and write files in Google Drive allowing users to work with files both on and offline syncing with Google Drive when reconnected online.
4: Google+ – Sharing features have been improved making it easier for users to share files, information with their contacts in a simple way directly from their app.
5: Google Ad products – There are some additions being added to Google’s Mobile Ads SDK which will now support DoubleClick for Publishers, DoubleClick Ad Exchange, and Search Ads for Mobile Apps. In addition to these changes location-based support has also been added allowing for advertisers to utilize location-based ads which has proven to increase ad revenue for developers.
