We are now in the full swing of creating an app empire with the AppsGeyser Android app builder and have made it to the final steps of our mission to be successful. This week we started to discuss some internal marketing strategies for location based marketing for your app and we briefly mentioned the use of push notifications. Today we are going to look a little more in depth at what a push notification is and how you create one for your apps within your app empire.
What are Push Notifications?
Push Notifications, or what we also call app alerts, are messages that are sent by the app maker to their app audience. You can think of as the app makers’ internal communication tool that allows the app maker to talk to their app audience. The audience will know when they have a message as a little message will appear on the app icon to notify the app user of the message.
Why do I need to send push notifications?
There are two reasons why sending push notifications are important:
1: Reminder to access your app – This may sound crazy, but people download so many apps now a days that they tend to forget that they have downloaded certain apps and do not use them. In order to gain respect within GooglePlay your apps need to be used or they will be classed as irrelevant and will hide at the bottom of all organic searches. Another reason is that if you want to become eligible for revenue from the affiliate marketing campaign available through the Android app builder, your app needs to have received a minimum of 100 downloads, but what is most important is that the average usage ratio needs to be 3 uses per download, so in all, it is expected that your app has seen 300 usages in total (not 3 per download, but averaged out) to be eligible.
2: To promote new service/product/advertisement – Utilizing your push notifications to push a new app in your app series, or a new product in your store is a very common use for these messages. This allows you to increase your revenue from within your existing business, how else would the user know you’d created a new app or have a new product for sale if you don’t alert them? You also don’t have to send information about your own products or services, you may wish to sell these notifications to external companies to promote their services/products that compliment your business, this is a great way to secure an income from your app.
