The annual Games Developers Conference (GDC) held last week has just ended, and we have learned loads of fun and interesting facts. The GDC is the fastest growing games conference in the World, bringing together developers and app users from around the globe.
The GDC gives us app makers the information required to understand what is happening in the gaming industry and how this will affect our app making abilities. We need to keep up with the demands of app users to help you, our app makers, develop apps to the best of your ability.
This is one of the largest pieces of news coming out of the GDC. GooglePlay is aware of the huge problem app makers have in enticing app users to pay for downloads. The problem is that many great developers need this revenue from downloads in order to build a viable business that they can continue to invest in. As we know, app users are reluctant to make app purchases without knowing the quality and usefulness of an app.
Users who will purchase your app hold more value for your business, because they are invested in the app. As an app maker you seek to find app users who have a strong lifetime value to your business. You don’t want app users downloading an app, only for it to sit unused and/or deleted in a matter of days. You want an app user to actually use the app, and if they have paid for it then there is a higher chance that the app user will add value to your business.
AdMob and AdWords
There are also many new features being introduced for the top ad providers, AdMob and AdWords. Your users will now have the ability to experience your app within their search results. Called “Search Trial Run Ads”, this feature allows the users to try an app found in the search results prior to purchase and installation.
Google Play Indie Corner
The Indie Corner is a new section of GooglePlay that will bring forth and highlight app games to users, based upon their current usage.
