There is one question that I am always asked when discussing social media networking and app discovery, and that is how can social media help engage your users?
There are five ways in which social media helps to engage your audience and promote your app:
1: Being Social – That is what social media is all about, being social and that means interacting with real people. The importance of social media is that you are actually interacting with real people and not machines, these people are interacting with you too and it’s not a one way communication tool.
2: Sharing – Social media allows you to share information with your audience, not just information, but your ideas and plans too. Getting your audience involved with your plans and ideas helps you research what the market allowing you to undertake market research from the comfort of your own computer.
3: Conversation – This is the main tool that you need to use with social media, use it as a tool to engage in conversation. Don’ t be afraid to ask questions and start debates, this helps to give your audience a voice and interact with you and your brand.
4: To the Point – Social media allows you to put out your ideas, plans and business information in short simple posts. Social networking does not only like short posts that are easy for you to find time to do, it prefers you to use short simple posts that grab your audiences’ attention, after all, with so much information being posted online people only read the first line before they decide if they want to continue reading or not.
5: Promotion – Social media is NOT your advertising tool, this marketing trick is to be used to build yourself a group of ‘friends’ in which you can chat away too, no one likes to be sold to and to be lectured. The idea of social is to create topics to start discussions on and to share information on your specialist subject.
