The picture you see here has been making the rounds. I found it at the Cuwait blog but I’ve seen it on Buzzfeed and other sites too, and I haven’t been able to track down its origin. When I saw it, I immediately thought of all my app-creating readers, and I decided that now is the perfect time to remind you to make nice icons for your apps!
I describe how to make a nice icon here, and I show it in a video here. Just in case, though, let me remind you the of the three steps for creating a great icon:
1. Take an image that you have a license to use – that is; your own artwork/photography, something bought from a stock photo seller, or something with a Creative Commons license.
2. Crop it to a roughly square shape.
3. Resize it to the the size you need for AppsGeyser and for Android Market.
Remember, Grandma really does know best!
