How many times have I heard the words, “I want to make an Android app, but….” it seems to be the most popular phrase of all times. Today I want to look at the 6 most important things you need consider before you start making an Android app.
1. What is your reason for making an app?
In other words, are you making an Android app for your existing business or are you making an Android app in order to make some money? The reason it is important to know this is because there are different strategies for app success with each of these app styles.
2. Why should you use Android as your main platform?
In the real world we need to look at how the app markets are growing and the Android market is growing at a faster speed than the iOS market. This gives you a wider potential audience that is growing. Android also not only covers a larger audience set, but it also gives you a wide range of audience styles that you can market to.
3: Will you charge a download fee?
This is one of my favorites, the amount of app makers that think they’ll make a quick buck by charging a minimal download fee only to realise that they fail to secure an audience never ceases to amaze me. I have written about this topic on a few occasions, click here to read more.
4. What Android app template should you use?
This is really a personal question that is completely focused upon the audience that you will be looking to gain from the app. Before starting any app creation you need to fully research the market and decide which template style would best suit your audience needs. Quite often app businesses will use the same content in different styles to capture as much of the audience share as possible.
5. Can you really create an Android app yourself?
When you are first starting out you can use programs such as AppsGeyser to bring your brand to the table and to begin to get yourself known in the app world. If you have more complicated technical ideas for an app that is not covered in one of our free templates, you may consider requesting a custom app built to your needs once you have built brand awareness.
6. How many apps should you make?
App networks are the way forward, they help you build up a name for your app business and make your brand appear professional. If you want to download an app and see that this is the sole app from that app maker you would begin to doubt the quality. All app makers, regardless of the reason for the app creation, should aim for a minimum of 7 apps.
