I have spent the past few blog posts talking about the social media frenzie, Twitter. At first I received many messages from you, our app makers, simply not understanding Twitter enough and asking me to explain in more depth how Twitter can be used to market your free Android app. Yesterday I gave you four tips on the basics of Twitter, but I feel that the basics are just the start and I wanted to fill you in on a few more reasons that Twitter is the social platform that you should use to market your free Android app.
Market your Android app with Twitter
Yesterday I spoke about the importance of using Twitter for your branding and how this can be accomplished, the importance of setting up your user profile to encourage your brand to be conveyed to all your followers, we also learnt that it is important for you to build a following and for you to begin to stop being shy and to get talking.
1: Talking – We briefly touched on the importance of talking yesterday, but we didn’t talk about how you should be talking. You need to be finding the right conversations that will enhance your business, for example you need to be talking in conversations about products that will excite your customers, a topic that they are interested in. We believe that you should be giving people information through your conversations and you should always make sure any subject related questions are answered. Your job here it to become a valuable member of the Twitter community, someone that people want to talk to and someone that they want to see Tweets from.
2: Driving traffic – What is the reason you are trying to communicate on Twitter? That is right, it is to increase traffic to your Android app, you are here trying to market your Android app and that is what you need to do. Make sure some of your tweets include a link to your Android download page or your website that will entice people to download the app. Always use the link shortener to save space, after all, 140 characters are not many if your link is 100.

3: Connect all your networks – You want to have a comprehensive life online and to get your audience to follow you from social networks, to your online websites and blogs, to your services and of course to your Android app. Make sure that you include your Twitter account on your other social networks so people can easily find you. In order to entice people over to your twitter page, you can and should include a running Twitter timeline on your website/blog. This will show people that current topics being discussed.
4: Make sure you are Mobile – Twitter is so active that it is sensible to make sure that you have the Twitter app on your mobile so that you are able to respond to tweets in real-time. This also makes conversations more natural and you don’t have to set down a period of time only for Twitter, it’s a platform that you spend a few minutes at a time on, like you would answer an SMS from your friends.
I hope that this final day of Twitter has shown you how to market your Android app with Twitter and other social platforms.
