Thank you for the great feedback that you have emailed me in the past few weeks. The ultimate Android app marketing strategy really has caught everyone’s imagination. So far in this series we have focused upon several important marketing aspects including; online marketing, traditional, social and technical, ASO, research and pricing. Today we are going to look at the importance of your app name.
Android app making is meant to be a fun experience but is also meant to be the key to your future business dreams and work/life balance. The problem is, how do you make sure that your apps will be successful? Making your app a success can come down to something as small as the name of your app. Today we are looking at keywords and how this will help you decipher the right name for your app.
1: Use a key word tool such as Google Adwords – This tool will help show which keywords are being searched for and therefore you can see how you can incorporate this into your app name. What you are looking for is the maximum of three words which are being searched for at any given time.
2: Trial and Error – Whether you like it or not, you should be releasing your app using different keywords to trial which are helping you rack up more downloads. The more downloads you are getting the more successful your app will be.
3: Relevance – make sure the keywords that you choose are relevant to your app. If you are managing to get 2000 downloads a day using your new keywords but then over 50% of these downloads are then deleted this will seriously affect your app rankings for the worse. Keywords but be app relevant.
4: Competition – Make sure your competition has not already used the keywords you are planning on using as this will be counterproductive. What you can do though is look at the keywords your competitors are using as a way of getting some ideas of which style of keywords work. Also look at the competition rating within Adwords, this will show you if they are high or not. If the competition rate is high, this means that many people are using this keyword and therefore it may not be the most affective for you.
Now that you have had the first 5 lessons in Android app marketing you can start your app planning. I want to hear from you guys what you have done to start your app businesses.
